PDF Expert for Mac has even more format options for exporting documents. With a few tweaks, PDF Expert’s scanning tools help achieve the best OCR results and make your documents easier to read. You can crop images, split pages, clear unwanted information in margins, apply filters, remove distortion, and set page size. PDF Expert also allows you to clean up scans, which can help with the identification process. There were a few mistakes in the low-resolution receipts, but most of the text was recognized correctly, and any errors were easy to correct. I tried the new OCR feature with various scanned PDFs, and the results were good. When PDF Expert is finished, you can jump through each block of recognized text, making corrections as needed. If none is found, choose a language and click the Identify button, and the app will process the file. With PDF Expert’s new Scan and OCR tools, the app will look for selectable text in your PDF.

That’s because you can’t find text in an image-based PDF, copy it for use elsewhere, or highlight it. If you work with PDFs a lot, you know the frustration of running into an image-based PDF that contains text. Readdle has also added OCR support to PDF Expert. Not only is it more consistent with Apple’s current design language, but by moving the title to the top of the window, the selected toolbar button and its functions are brought closer together, creating a stronger connection between the two. I’m also glad that the document title has shifted from the left side of the window. Even if I’m working primarily on white PDFs, the updated Chrome UI of PDF Expert helps me focus on the document rather than the app, the same way photo editing apps have always been. As someone who works in dark mode most of the time, I appreciate the addition. The toolbar is wider, the app’s iconography has been updated, the title of your document has been moved up and to the left, and there’s a new dark mode. The first thing you’ll notice about PDF Expert for Mac is the new design, with a much more modern feel. We’ve covered the main features of PDF Expert several times in the past, so let’s focus on the changes you can expect from today’s update.
